P3 - Consent Forms

These are the consent forms I handed out, and got all crew members to sign to ensure I have all of their informed consent for the production of I Need Help. Under 18s gave consent from themselves and also their parents. Without this consent, filming would not be able to occur.

P3 - TV Trailer Planning

TV Trailer Script
This is the TV trailer script I have created. I decided to reuse aspects from my radio trailer to add to consistency, for example, the same narration and voice overs from Mark and Myah. However, I decided not to include the dialogue from Sam where he shouts 'Dad' as i feel like it would not fit with the rest of the scene being in slow-motion as it is a quick, loud shout. The aim of this TV trailer is to create a sense of mystery, and as their is video in this trailer which the radio trailer lacked, I feel like more can symbolised through mise-en-scene. This reuse of the dialogue allows the audience to get a grasp of the characters, and scenarios which will actually occur in the show itself. The narrator's voice over covers a brief, dramatic and intense synopsis of the show. The visuals reveal a figure which resembles the one seen in the poster, creating this consistent sense of mystery, and there are other clips such as the scene including the ambulance, which are scenes from the show. I ended the script with the tagline of the show along with the name to create this consistency between my advertising components, allowing the ideas and themes of 'I Need Help' to stick in the audiences head, making it more memorable and more likely for them to be gain interest and watch the drama. In order for the audience to do this however, I included when it will air and how the audience can consume it. Over the top of this audio, will be text on screen, which is shown through the storyboard.

TV Trailer Storyboard
This is the storyboard I created, visualising the scenes which are verbalised through the script. It allows me to grasp a good idea of the shots I need, and a sense of what the final product will look like. I used the action blocks from the script to describe what is happening in each shot, allowing me to match the audio from the script, to the visuals of the storyboard. This storyboard also allows me to visualise the locations I will need film in, making the filming of the trailer easier. It also means I am able to envisage any stock video I need, such as the clip of the bottle smashing, which may be difficult to film as it will involve lots of glass smashing on the floor in a public place. Finally, it allows me to visualise the text included, such as the name 'I Need Help'.

P3 - Social Media Advert Planning

These are my planning documents for all of my social media posts. They include a storyboard for my YouTube short, which is the end segment of my trailer, repurposed as a portrait version, and three visualisation diagrams for social media posts. First being a repurpose of my poster for an Instagram post, second being screenshot of the trailer with Sam in it as a character profile for an Instagram post, and third being the same screenshot of the trailer with Sam and the title as a TikTok post. Having these allowed me to build consistency across my advertising components, including the title, when and where it is released, the tagline and giving the audience a sense of who the protagonist.

The font of the text will be the same throughout all the components, and in the same font I have used throughout my campaign: 'All Rights Reserved'. Colours will be dark, the title will be a dark red for consistency, and the rest of the writing will be in a light grey (excluding the BBC logos) to contrast with the dark background.

P3 - Poster/Billboard Advert Planning

This is the visualisation diagram I created for my poster/billboard advert. It includes a dark background of a city street, to symbolise the dark cloud following the protagonist, in the form of his grief and depression. I also included a dark figure (the protagonist) walking down this street, to symbolise his journey through the show, and create a sense of mystery in the audience, to make them wonder who this figure is and where is he going? I included the name and tagline of the show for consistency and to let them know what this poster is about, and to make it memorable and stick in their head. Finally, the available platforms and times for when the show is available are included, otherwise the audience would not know how to access it.

P3 - Radio Trailer Planning

Radio Trailer Practise:
Initially, before I began to create the plan for my radio trailer, I was given the chance to have a practise of creating one on Final Cut Pro. We were given pre-recorded audio files and we given the chance to roam royalty free audio websites, in order to create a radio trailer for a different TV drama: Dark Valley. This is what I created:

Radio Trailer Planning:
Once I had created this practise trailer, I created this script for my TV drama radio trailer. I decided to include parts of the dialogue from the script I created from my previous project in Unit 22 - Scriptwriting, allowing the audience to get a grasp of the characters, and scenarios which will actually occur in the show itself. I also included a narrator's voice over, which covers a brief, dramatic and intense synopsis of the show.

 Post-Production of YouTube Short
This is the  Final Cut Pro interface for my YouTube short I created from my visualisation diagram. I decided to repurpose the ending clips from my TV trailer. To do this, I copied and pasted those clips and pieces of text into a new project on final cut pro. I then added a fade in and out transition to make the video run smoothy. In order to change the clips from landscape to portrait, I needed to change the resolution from 1920 x 1080 to 1080 x 1350. This created a portrait video, with a landscape video embedded inside (it did not change the actual video to landscape). In order to make the video fit the new aspect ratio, I had to scale all of the clips into it, allowing them to fit. and repurposing the ending clips from my TV trailer. To do this, I copied and pasted those clips and pieces of text into a new project on final cut pro. I then added a fade in and out transition to make the video run smoothy.

In order to comply with technical specification I ensured the following:
Video: 1080p HD
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Aspect ratio: 16:9
Frames per second: 25fps
Audio: Stereo 48kHz, bit depth of 16.
File Format: mov
I completed this by choosing the option for 48kHz when creating the project, and then ensuring that the audio did not go over -6 decibels on Final Cut Pro, otherwise, this would technically be illegal as audio louder than this can be damaging and instantly removed from platforms. Furthermore, choosing the H.264 format to create the .mov file.

Final Product of YouTube Short
This is the actual YouTube short I created. It is 10 seconds long and in those 10 seconds I have decided to give away lots of information to the audience, this being: the name of the show, when it will be released and shown, and how to view it. I also chose it to be the ending pat as it is an intense yet quick video as this is the section where the music intensifies, and I can get the text to appear in time with the beat. This draws in the audience and grabs their attention as it is action packed in a small amount of time.

Production Of Other Social Media Adverts
For my other social media adverts, I decided to create two Instagram posts and a TikTok post. To do this, I repurposed components from my other advertising products, I repurposed the whole of the poster below, into a square document, to create an Instagram post of the poster/billboard advert itself. To do this, I used the mouse tool to drag the assets into their places, and then changed the document set up from a print A4 set up, to a web social media post set up. For the character profile Instagram post and TikTok post , I took a screenshot of one of the frames from my trailer (the image of Sam walking down the road). Next, for the character profile Instagram post, I copied and pasted the title and created new text using the text tool for the other pieces of text. Next I used the mouse tool to drag them into their allocated spaces; whereas for the TikTok post, I changed the document set up to a web, story post set up and then carried out the same procedure, without the extra character profile text.

Post-Production of Social Media Adverts
This is the interface of the website called Zeoob. This is where I created my Instagram posts and my TikTok post. I ensured to include my tagline in the descriptions of the posts as it was not included in the main post of all them. For the repurpose of the poster post, even though the tagline was in the post itself, I decided to include it in the description as well to further engrain the concept of my TV drama in the audiences head. Furthermore, I also added the release date and the available platforms to every post - even if it was included in the post itself, again, to make it more memorable to the audience. The following images are the final posts I created.

Technical Set Up
The Camera I chose to film with was a Sony Alpha 7R III. I set it on 25fps with the shutter speed on 1/50th of a second of exposure. Along with setting it to have shutter speed priority on the 'S' setting. This allowed the shutter to be open for the right amount of time in relation to the fps, and to allow the camera to adjust the aperture to match the exposure to be able to produce more natural looking footage unlike iPhones for example. I used a tripod for  some of my shots to keep the shots steady and appear like videos in professional movies.

Production of TV Trailer
After my planning stage and all the components necessary, I was able to begin filming my trailer. To do this, I handed out my production schedule and risk assessments to my crew and got them to sign consent forms, next I showed them my storyboard and script to make sure they knew what to do. Next,  I grabbed my camera and tripod, filmed the inside shots of Sam sitting on his bed, and then went out onto the street and filmed the walking shots, bringing my storyboard and script with me. Luckily, all these actions were relatively simple so directing and gathering the shots how I imagined them was very easy. To get the worms-eye-view shot of Sam sitting on his bed, I set the tripod on its lowest setting and angled the camera upwards. To get the walking shots, I lifted the camera so it was in line with Sam's head, told him to walk and then I walked along too. This was the same for the shot of Sam's feet walking towards me, whilst I was walking backwards. This was a great challenge as walking backwards whilst trying to keep the camera still was very difficult. For the cigarette scene, we got a fake cigarette (paper), lit it with the safety kitchen light, and then I panned the camera across.  The following day, We went out again to film the shot of the car driving past. To do this, we parked the car up, I ran ahead, crouched down and gave them a thumbs up when I was ready. The car drove along the road and I rotated along with it to create a smooth panning shot.

The whole filming experience was a great challenge as I filmed things which I had never done before, for example, directing somebody driving a car and filming a panning shot of it. I am very proud if this experience as I used no stock footage. I initially intended to, the car scene was supposed to be a stock video of an ambulance driving past, but I was unable to find one which satisfied me so I decided to film it all myself, and use a car instead of an ambulance.

Post-Production of TV trailer
This is the interface of my TV trailer on the editing software Final Cut Pro. It shows how I have put together all the different components, such as narration, dialogue, music and video clips. The backing track is the long, green section which spans the whole trailer. I ensured that this was at low-level volume so all other components could be heard. The blue sections at the bottom of the interface is the narration, which I have spaced out to their appropriate locations, leaving a long pause in between each piece of narration to build suspense, and lengthen the trailer. The blue section just above the music, is where the video clips are located. I ensured that the 'snap to' option was in place to make sure there were no gaps in between clips, and I also added a 'fade in' transition at the start of the trailer, shown by the grey block. Above these clips, includes the BBC DOG, which I ensured was a PNG file to remove the background. The images of the ident and relevant logos are above this which are also PNGs to ensure that there is no background, and the rest of the video can be seen underneath them. I wanted these to appear to the beat in the music where it gets more intense, to do this and to to make sure that all narration, video clips and images where the length they should be, I used the blade tool to cut them; to drag them into their correct location, I used the mouse tool. Finally, I added an effect to all the clips called 'aged film' which made the video slightly darker with an orange tone, to make it more appealing to the eye by removing bright, white light.

Final Product of TV trailer
This is the final version of my TV trailer.  As there are more visual elements and I wanted to keep the trailer simple, I removed some of the dialogue, but kept the narration and one piece of dialogue to create a sense of mystery, as it was the dialogue which says 'You need help'. I also did not include the sound of the ambulance in this because as previously stated, I no longer needed it as I filmed a car panning scene instead. I decided not to include anyone's face, this is to further create that sense of mystery, leaving the audience thinking: who is this person? What has happened? Why do they need help? Overall, This allows the audience to get a grasp of the protagonist and scenarios which will actually occur in the show itself, yet revealing very little information. The narrator's voice over covers a brief, dramatic and intense synopsis of the show, ending the trailer with the tagline of the show along with the name to create this consistency between my advertising components, allowing the ideas and themes of 'I Need Help' to stick in the audiences head, making it more memorable and more likely for them to be gain interest and watch the drama. In order for the audience to do this however, I have when it will air and how the audience can consume it displayed as well. Unlike the radio trailer, I could choses whether this information was presented audibly, visibly or both. I decided to portray it visibly, to create this tension with the music as the text appears on beat.
